We were forced into getting the collision insurance after explaining that our credit card would be covering those expenses. The van we were given was a dirty full size van instead of the mini van we had reserved. We were told the van would be exchanged but it took 2 full days and instead of dropping it off or meeting us we were made to return to the rental office. The minivan did not have a drop of gas and we barely made it to the gas station. NEVER AGAIN WILL WE RENT FROM AMERICAN RENTAL!!!!!!!

Thieves/Dishonest/Greedy/Unprofessional. They did not pick me up from the promised place and caused inconvenience/ delay. The quoted rate was not honored. The promised vehicle was not given. A junky and run down vehicle with 60,000 miles (bumpy due to wheel damage) was given instead. I would never ever rent from them again or recommend any one to rent from them. They lied on insurance and premium on the base quote despite a firm email. At the end they further took unproportional money for 1 day

The Cancun office is a bunch of scam artists! They tried to charge us for the trunk not being able to pop. It was a huge hassel not to have a functioning trunk 2 days into our trip and then they tried to charge us for their lack of maintenance. We saw on the customer reviews that this exact story has happened various times to other people. When we were dropping off our vehicle, another lady was fighting them because they were charging her for a ripped spare tire that she never used! Crooks!!!!

Estimados, He recibido una PESIMA antención para comenzar la cotización online indicaba $48 y terminé pagando $125 debido a que no estaba incluido el seguro, etc. Solicité el vehiculo a las 7:45 AM y llegó a las 12:PM. al entregar el vehiculo me cobraron $30 de recargo porque lo entregué 4 horas tarde pero no tomaron en cuenta que ustedes tambien lo entregaron 4 horas tarde. en conclusión un PESIMO SERVICIO

Worst rental experience EVER. Took about 15-20 minutes to leave airport after they KNEW exactly when we were arriving. As we were getting in shuttle, the people getting dropped off at the airport were asked by me how their rental went. The lady said, "that car was a piece of s__t!" When we got to the rental office, they gave us a quote for over $150 MORE than the TOTAL what we were told by email. they said it was for mandatory fees. if mandatory, why didn't they include in quote???! BS!!

Worst experience I have ever had with a car rental agency. Liars and thieves. I told the agent I did not want the insurance coverage and he told me it was a law that I had to carry it.... I told him I had my own. He charged me double what was quoted. The worst customer service (that is an oxymoron) I have encountered. I will make sure to share my experience with as many people as I can to spare them this ordeal.
