This is the absolute WORST rental company. The first time I rented from this company they gave me a car without working seatbelts. Initially I was told that there was nothing they could do for me, but after about an hour and a half they finally drove in a car from another location. This most recent time they cancelled my reservation without any warning whatsoever. They blamed me for not filling out my paperwork even though I had two more days and there is no warning anywhere on their site. F-
The vehicle was not available on the day it was supposed to be rented. I had to delay the trip by one day because of this. On the other hand,, staff was helpful and overall pleasant to deal with.
This was my first time renting from here and I was very please. The service was superb and it was a very simple process for renting and returning. I will recommended this company to everyone. The only downfall was that the 15 passenger van did not have a step stool or step bar so it made it very difficult to get in and out of. We actually purchased our own step stool from Walmart to make it easier on the family.
I reserved a 15 person passenger van on 8/6/14 to be picked up at the Bedford Park, IL Reck-a-Wreck location on 8/10/14. I arrived as per my reservation at 11am on that Sunday only to have the woman working at that Rent-a-Wreck location inform me that they do not even carry vans, let alone 15 person passenger vans. A day trip for 15 people was ruined & cost our group a lot of money, time & aggravation. This is the WORST auto rental experience I have ever had. I will be pursuing recompense.
I should have known better... The 15 passenger van was a "WRECK!" The drivers side window wouldn't roll down. The seat belts were not installed... they were lying below the seats. The vehicle shook terribly when I was braking going downhill.
The agent confirmed twice via phone. When I went to pick it up, he took a phone call in the middle of our transaction and kept me waiting an additional 20 minutes... said it was an insurance issue he had to address. Can't beat the price though!
I received outstanding service in every area. I would definitely rent from Rent-a-Wreck again!
Trunck latch didn't work and the tires were really bald but a good running car.
Ran into some problems because the vehicle we reserved was "grounded" but they worked it out. Then ran into the problem of not being able to pay with corporate credit card because my name was not on it. Those were the main issues that would prevent me from renting from this agency again. But the staff was helpful and friendly.
It was hard to understand what the agent was saying/asking for at times. Otherwise, it was a great experience.
