It is important to be aware of additional fees that may be added to the cost of your cheap car rental (many of these are location-specific). Some of these include: state taxes, out-of-state travel fees, refueling charges, drop-off fees, licensing fees and/or concession recovery fees if you rent a car at the airport (this is the fee the agency pays to do business at the airport).
NOTE: When renting with independent agencies at Car Rental Express, the total pricing will tell you in advance what you will pay. That way there will be no surprises when you go to pick up your rental car.
In most cases, there should be a full tank of gas when you pick up your rental car (make sure to check this out in the contract). It is also important that you ask the rental company about the refueling requirements of your cheap car rental upon its return to the agency. Do you need to top up the tank? Will there be charges otherwise?
You will most likely need to have a major credit card to rent with the international companies, however this is not always the case. Be sure to check the rental company's policies. Some independent companies do take cash deposits.
